We can't be called pro-government, says SC Judge Chandrachud
The supreme Court, which has come in for a lot of controversy over the transfer of karnataka judge jayant Patel who resigned rather than be transferred, on thursday disputed the perception that it was pro-government

"The former supreme Court bar association president said on electronic media that the supreme Court was full of pro govt judges. That is not true. Someone has to just come and sit in court one day to see in how many the government gets hauled over the coals in favour of citizens' rights," justice DY Chandrachud said.

He was part of a bench led by CJI Dipak Misra. Former SCBA president Dushyant Dave had attacked the top court recently over justice patel's transfer saying it was full of pro govt judges. Justice Patel quit rather than be transferred to Allahabad. He was tipped for elevation. The transfer would have reduced him to a puisne (junior) judge in the allahabad high court.
