We are open to review: Sheila Dikshit
Don’t lose heart. That seems to be chief minister Sheila Dikshit’s assurance to budget-battered Delhiites.

She said: ‘‘ Delhi Government has always been there for the people of the city. Whenever there is a crisis, we intervene. I hope the decisions taken in the budget won’t put pressure on Delhiites. But if that happens, we will always be there to review the situation.’’
Dikshit justified the tough measures taken by her government. ‘‘ It’s a budget for development of the city. The state has been trying its mobilize its resources to deliver the Commonwealth Games projects on time. In normal circumstances, a flyover, bridge or Metro project can be delayed for some time if the resources are inadequate, but with the Games round the corner, deadlines have to be met in just three to four months. These are some constraints over which we don’t have any control,’’ she said, adding that the Centre too didn’t release adequate funds for the CWG projects.
On withdrawal of the subsidy in LPG, the CM said: ‘‘ It was given to deal with a crisis. It’s over now and hence the subsidy is being rolled back. We haven’t increased the price of LPG.’’
On hiking VAT on diesel, the CM said: ‘‘ It’s a deliberate move. First, we are not an agricultural state, so there’s no point in keeping diesel prices under check. Second, we wish to discourage the use of diesel as it is a pollutant.’’
