We are forgetting that we are Communists: Biman Bose

KOLKATA: Pulling up party workers, Left Front chairman Biman Bose today said they are forgetting they are Communists and that the party should fight against communal forces.

"We are communists. Sometimes we are forgetting that we are communists. Communists give life to stop communal riots. Communists give life in people's fight," Bose told a public meeting here.

Asking party workers to fight against communal forces, he said that they must take a tough stand.

Opposing proposed amendments in labour laws, he said the Centre is trying to snatch the rights of the labour class.

"Why are they amending the labour law? To interfere in the rights of the workers and give more benefits to the owners. The democratic rights would be taken away. They are trying to create an environment of mistrust," Bose, who is also the CPI(M) state secretary said.

Asking party workers to fight against the "attack on democracy" he said the rise of communal forces in the country is the biggest challenge before them.

Bose also hit out at Sudershan Rao, chairperson of the Indian Council of Historical Research, alleging "he is a supporter of India's caste system".
