We always stated Saradha scam be probed by central agency: Sitaram Yechury

GUWAHATI: CPI(M) Politburo member Sitaram Yechury today said his party had wanted right from the beginning that the Saradha scam be probed by a central agency not only in West Bengal but also in Assam and Odisha.

"We also said that the first priority is to address the concern of small investors and their money should be returned. We demanded confiscation of the properties of all the culprits," he told reporters to a question.

Yechury said the arrest of many politicians, including ministers and MPs, show that political parties were fulfilling their (ambitions) and it is "crony capitalism".

West Bengal minister Madan Mitra was arrested in connection with the multi-crore scam yesterday while TMC Rajya Sabha MPs Kunal Ghosh and Srinjoy Bose were arrested earlier.
