WB stresses modernising education in madrasas
Stressing on modernising the syllabus in madrasas, West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee on Sunday, said his government was not for checking the importance of Al Amin Mission in the state.
''The government is for a balance between the educational standards of the majority and the minority groups. In madrasas modern education should be imparted side by side with the knowledge of Arabic and the Koran,'' he said in his keynote address at the convocation at the Al Amin Mission residential school at Khalatpur in West Bengal's Howrah district.
He said, more and more students passing out from the Mission should enter public life and help in the country's development.
Stress should be put on technical and vocational training to help the students and in turn the country take rapid strides to compete with the developed nations.
The Mission's general secretary S Nazrl Islam said the institute would work for promoting education among the Muslims of the state.
West Bengal Madrasa and Minority Development Minister Abdus Sattar, MPs Mohd Salim, Hannan Mollah, Al Amin Mission chairman Mostaq Hussain and former MLA Nanigopal Chowdhury spoke at the function.
