Waterlevel in Godavari river rises

Water level in Godavari river has gone up in various places in Andhra Pradesh following heavy rains in catchment areas.

BHADRACHALAM: Water level in Godavari river has gone up in various places in Andhra Pradesh following heavy rains in catchment areas.

Water level at Bhadrachalam is likely to touch 55 ft (which is 2 feet above danger level) by this evening, according to Central Water Commission sources.

The district Collector has alerted all flood duty officers to shift people from low lying areas to safer places and revenue officials have issued second flood warning as water level touched 48 ft this morning.

Levels at Kaleswaram and Peruru were also continously increasing, they said.
