NEW DELHI: It’s time Delhiites learn to be judicious with their water usage as they may have to shell out more for what they consume . A cash strapped DJB finally took the decision to revise its tariff rates in a board meeting held on Monday. A formal announcement will be made public on Tuesday.
According to sources, increase in rates was not uniform and some slabs have not been touched at all. The last time the tariff was increased in 2005.
Sources say that the utility had been suffering from massive losses over the past several years. With a lot of water meters in the city defunct and many connections unmetered, consumers were being charged on average consumption basis.
