JAMMU: Jammu and Kashmir government today said that the water level in river Jhelum has been constantly receding since it touched the flood level at Sangam and Ram Munshi Bagh areas.

"The water level in river Jhelum has been constantly receding since it touched the flood level at Sangam and Ram Munshi Bagh", an official spokesman said.

As per the hourly readings by the Flood Control Department, at 9.00 AM today, the water level at Sangam was 11.70 feet, Ram Munshi Bagh 15.35 feet and Asham 11.66 feet.

At 10.00 AM, the water level at Sangam was 11.60 feet, Ram Munshi Bagh 15.30 feet and Asham 11.66 feet, it said.

Showing further decline at 11:00 AM, the level came down to 11.45 feet at Sangam and 15.20 feet at Ram Munshi Bagh and 11.58 feet at Asham.

At 12:00 noon, it receded further at Sangam to 11.30 feet, 15.10 feet at Ram Munshi Bagh and 11.50 feet at Asham.

Likewise, the water level at Sangam was 11.20 feet at 1:00 PM, 15.00 feet at Ram-Munshi Bagh and 11.41 feet at Asham; while at 2:00 PM, the water level at Sangam receded further to 11.00 feet, the spokesman said.

During the same time the water level went down to 15.00 feet and 11.33 feet at Ram-Munshi Bagh and Asham respectively, he said.

Whilst at 3.00 PM, the water level at Sangam further receded to 10.09 feet, at Ram Munshi Bagh to 14.85 feet and at Asham to 11.33 feet, he added.
