Prime Minister Narendra Modi today recited 'Shri Ram Jai Ram' bhajan at the Veerbhadra Temple in Lepakshi, Andhra Pradesh, today. PM Modi today visited the Veerabhadra temple in Lepakshi, Andhra Pradesh, a site with significant importance in the Ramayana. Opting for traditional attire, PM Modi, who is on a two-day visit to Andhra Pradesh and Kerala on January 16 and 17, also listend to verses from the Ranganatha Ramayan in Telugu.

The historical significance of Lepakshi is rooted in the Ramayana, where it is believed that the wounded Jatayu, a bird injured by Ravana during his abduction of Goddess Sita, fell at this location after a fierce battle. Granting Moksha to the dying Jatayu, Lord Rama was informed by him about Sita being taken south by Ravana.

The visit to the Lepakshi comes after PM Modi visited the Shree Kala Ram Mandir in Nashik a few days back. PM Modi also visited Panchvati, situated on the banks of the Godavari river in Nashik. He offered prayers at the Kala Ram Mandir and heard the verses relating to Ayodhya Aagman of Bhagwan Ram from Ramayan in Marathi. He also took part in Bhajan recitation in the temple.


Later in the day, PM Modi will hold a roadshow in Kochi, Kerala, at 7:15 pm.


On the morning of January 17, Prime Minister Modi will perform pooja and darshan at Guruvayur Temple in Kerala. He will also visit Thriprayar Shree Ramaswami Temple at around 10:30 AM, followed by the inauguration of essential infrastructure projects related to ports, shipping, and waterways at noon, according to the PMO.

This marks the second visit of the Prime Minister to Kerala within two weeks, with a previous roadshow in Thrissur on January 3. In Kochi, PM Modi is set to inaugurate three major infrastructure projects, including the New Dry Dock at Cochin Shipyard Limited, the International Ship Repair Facility of CSL, and the LPG Import Terminal of Indian Oil Corporation Limited at Puthuvypeen, Kochi, collectively worth more than Rs 4,000 crore.
