Was not Dedicated Freight Corridor formed during Lalu's tenure?

PATNA: With RJD chief Lalu Prasad rubbishing his involvement in the 'freight corridor scam', Bihar Deputy Chief Minister S K Modi on Tuesday asked him to explain whether the Dedicated Freight Corridor of India Limited was not formed during his tenure in the Railway Ministry.

The DFCIL was formed in 2006 when Prasad was Railway Minister, Modi a senior BJP leader said and asked whether tenders were not awarded to some enterprises for constructing 54 mega bridges for the Eastern Freight Corridor at the a cost of $ 130 million.
Alleging that undue benefits were bestowed to firms having close links with Prasad, the BJP leader said the scam would not have been possible without political patronage.

Stating that the Central Vigilance Commission had highlighted irregularities, Modi said Prasad could not escape the responsibility on the allegations of corruption.

Modi demanded that the Railway Ministry make public the report of the CVC.

"I am also going to write to Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee requesting her to order a CBI probe into the allegations against Lalu Prasad," he said.
