War of words between Himanta Biswa Sarma, Jairam Ramesh over Bharat Jodo Yatra

There is a bitter war of words between Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and Congress leader Jairam Ramesh over Bharat Jodo Yatra.

Himanta had tweeted, “The Bharat Jodo Yatra is a Comedy of the Century! The Bharat that we live in today is resilient, robust & united. The only time India was divided was in 1947 because Congress agreed for it. Rahul Gandhi ji should go to Pakistan for 'Bharat Jodo Yatra' if they want unification".

Jairam retorted, "I don't take Assam CM seriously, because he has to prove his loyalty every day after having been a part of Congress for 20-25 years. He is a recent migrant to the BJP, so he has to make outrageous statements every day. I think the Assam CM is boyish, immature.”


Himanta replied questioning who is Jairam and does he know him. “Tell me who Jairam Ramesh is. Is he someone who lives in Assam? Who is he? I have no idea. Who will remember the name of a Congress leader now? I was never very close to any man with such a name when I was in Congress. I don't even know who he is.”

Himanta told mediapersons on Wednesday, " Try to join Pakistan and Bangladesh and try to create Akhand Bharat if you have regrets about the partition. From Kashmir to Kanyakumari, Silchar to Saurashtra, we are one. India is fully integrated.”

Congress' 'Bharat Jodo Yatra' as part of which Rahul Gandhi and other Congress leaders will travel across 3,500 km, from Kashmir to Kanyakumari.
