Wadia allowed to depose in 23-year-old attempt to murder case
MUMBAI: The special CBI court here has allowed the Bombay Dyeing chairman Nusli Wadia to depose in a 23-year-old case related to an attempt on his life.

"The prosecution is at liberty to examine the applicant (Wadia) as prosecution witness and if the prosecution has no desire to do so then the applicant will be examined as the court witness," said special judge A D Karanjkar in an order passed last week.

On May 26, Wadia will have to inform the court the date in June when he would appear before the court.

One Kirti Ambani is the accused in this attempt to murder case.

Wadia in his application had contended that in spite of being the victim of the crime, his statement was not recorded and he was never contacted by prosecution after April 2013.

His evidence was necessary to throw light on the motive behind the crime, Wadia added.
