MUMBAI: DHFL promoters Kapil and Dheeraj Wadhawan on Wednesday moved a city court seeking protection from arrest, soon after the Maharashtra home ministry informed central agencies that the duo’s quarantine period ended. Their lawyer, Amit Desai, told ET that the court granted them interim relief from arrest till Thursday.

The brothers are accused in a bank fraud case. The Wadhawans were put in quarantine along with several family members on April 9, after they travelled to Mahabaleshwar in Satara district, despite the lockdown imposed to check the Covid-19 outbreak.

The brothers have filed an application for anticipatory bail in the Yes Bank case, where the Enforcement Directorate is probing their alleged role, Desai said. The sessions court has asked the agency to file its reply by Thursday, the senior counsel said.
