Vyapam scam: Digvijay Singh meets CBI Chief to keep pressure on BJP

NEW DELHi: AICC general secretary Digvijaya Singh met CBI director Ajit Sinha on Thursday, demanding a fair investigation into the Vyapam scam. Maintaining that he had appealed to the Supreme Court to reinvestigate the 'botched-up' probe by state agencies, Singh said the recently started CBI probe into the scam must take into account the main factor that major evidences were tampered, destroyed by the state investigating agencies.

In his letter to the CBI chief, Singh said the agency must probe the reasons and people who had tampered with the crucial excel sheets recovered from the computer hard disk. "The sequence of events would show that the SIT and STF responsible for proper investigation of the matter turned a blind eye to the material provided by the whistleblower and the 'Truth Lab report'. A summary of Truth Lab report is reproduced herein for ready reference," Singh told the CBI chief.

"...the said deleted file relating to excel sheet with names of candidates, roll numbers, sponsor/recommender and name of examination was initially opened at 04:20 pm on 18.07.2013, at that time 'CM' featured in the excel sheet at 48 places out of 131 as recommendor/sponsor. However, the tampering took place at 08:00 pm within few hours on 18.07.2013 when the 'CM' that featured at 48 places was either replaced with 'Umabharatiji,' 'Raj Bhavan,' 'M/s' and 'minister' or deleted altogether...," he added.
