VVPAT used or the first time in Noksen bypolls
GUWAHATI: For the first time Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) with Electronic Voting Machines was used for the Noksen Assembly seat in Tuensang district of Nagaland on Wednesday. The polling percentage stood at 70.3

Deputy Commissioner of the district, T. Mhabemo Yanthan told ET, "For the first time VVPAT system was used in the by-elections.The election was peaceful."

The constituency has 12,074 voters, including 6,142 men and 5,832 women, with 21 polling stations spread over 19 villages.

The bye-poll to Noksen constituency was necessitated following resignation of Minister for School Education C M Chang on March 14.

Ruling party Naga Peoples Front (NPF) has fielded Lok Sabha MP Chang for the bye-poll against Congress nominee Lima Onen Chang.
