AGARTALA: A total of 23,83,146 voters will exercise their franchise in the general elections from Tripura where elections for the two parliamentary seats will be held on April 7 and 12 respectively, officials said today.

"Elections for the Tripura (West) constituency would be held on April 7, the Tripura (East) ST constituency would be held on April 12," Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Ashutosh Jindal said.

Keeping in view the security arrangements, elections would be held on two days in the state and the model code of conduct for the elections was enforced from today, he said.

There would not be any dearth of security forces during the polling and on the day of counting on May 16, the Election Commission has assured to send adequate central paramilitary forces besides the state's own forces, Jindal said, adding vulnerability mapping in the state would be completed soon.
