Vice-president Jagdeep Dhankhar on Friday cautioned Indian industrialists of being mindful of their investments in foreign institutions getting used to tarnish India's image. Dhankhar was speaking during the release of a commemorative postage stamp on the 200th birth anniversary of Swami Dayanand Saraswati, in New Delhi.

"There are some American institutions. Our industrialists and billionaires offer funding to them. I am not saying their intention is wrong. It has slipped out of their mind. Because of funding, our own people who are there, plan events to tarnish the image of India. There are students and teachers from different countries in such institutions. But this image maligning is done by our people only. It's a matter of concern," Dhankhar said.

The vice-president added that some foreign institutions are lecturing us about ourselves, and their aim is to curb the growing pace of India. Without naming Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, Dhankhar said that it is painful to see some people going abroad and trying to malign their own country from there. He stated that a true believer of Bharat and Bhartiya would always think of his or her country first and contribute to the nation's reform process rather than make unfounded comments on our institutions from foreign soil.

Dhankhar underlined Swami Dayanad's contribution towards ensuring that languages like Sanskrit and Hindi get their deserved recognition.

"There is no language in the world and no grammar which has the depth that Sanskrit is possessed of. It is like the mother of all languages," he noted, calling on citizens to never forget their roots.
