Voting for by-polls begin in UP

Voting for by-polls to two Lok Sabha seats and three Assembly constituencies in Uttar Pradesh began on a peaceful note this morning amidst tight security, official sources said.

LUCKNOW: Voting for by-polls to two Lok Sabha seats and three Assembly constituencies in Uttar Pradesh began on a peaceful note this morning amidst tight security, official sources said.

Polling in Lok Sabha seats -- Khalilabad and Azamgarh -- and Assembly constituencies -- Bilgram, Colonelganj and Moradnagar -- began at 8 am, they said.

"The polling is going on peaceful since it started at 8 in the morning. There is no news of any untoward incident from anywhere till now," a senior official told PTI.

Sixty companies of Central Paramilitary Forces, PAC and state police personnel have been deployed in these constituencies fro peaceful conduct of polls, the sources said, adding polling at all the booths will be videographed.

In all, over 37.40 lakh voters are expected to exercise their franchise at over 3,591 polling booths.
