Voting begins for 46 civic bodies in Rajasthan

JAIPUR: Voting in 46 civic bodies, including six municipal corporations, in Rajasthan began at 7 am today, a state election commission official said.

Over 63.09 lakh electors are eligible to cast their votes at 6,135 polling booths in 1,680 wards. 7,375 candidates are are in fray for the 46 civic bodies where polling will continue till 6 pm.

Polling are being held in six municipal corporations of Jaipur, Kota, Jodhpur, Bikaner, Udaipur and Bharatpur, 18 municipal councils and 22 municipalities.

Elaborate security arrangements have been made for the election with the deployment of over 35,000 armed personnels of state police, Rajasthan Armed Constabulary and Home Guards. Results will be announced on November 25.
