Voters without election photo ID cards in Uttarakhand can cast their votes in the January 30 assembly polls by using other documents like driving license and PAN card.

DEHRA DUN: Voters without election photo ID cards in Uttarakhand can cast their votes in the January 30 assembly polls by using other documents like driving license and PAN card.

The State Election Commission has allowed the use of 14 alternative documents, including passport, photo identity cards issued by the state government, central government, public sector enterprises, local bodies or public limited companies to their employees, passbooks of banks or post office having photographs of account holders and caste certificates, for casting of votes, Chief Electoral Officer Radha Raturi said.

Non-resident Indians will have to produce their original passports besides 14 alternative documents for casting their votes, she added.

Chief Election Commissioner Y S Qureshi during his last visit early this month had said that only photo ID card would be used on the polling day.
