LUCKNOW: Gearing up for the assembly polls, the state electoral officer on Monday said that the final electoral list of 11.45 crore voters has been published. Interestingly, the total number of voters in the state have reduced by about 2 lakh as compared to the last published electoral list.

State electoral officer A K Bishnoi said that though 48.92 new names have been included in the voters list about 52.01 lakh names had to be deleted.

Of the deleted names, 21.59 lakh were found dead and the rest names were either found to be mentioned at more than one place in the electoral list or had changed residence.

The final electoral voters list published in 2001 had 11.47 crore voters but this time round the total number of voters is only about 11.45 crore. So there is net reduction of about 2 lakh voters since last time.

The election commission had done intensive revision of the electoral list and chief election commissioner N Gopalaswamy had come down to the state to review the process, twice in Lucknow and once in Gorakhpur.
