Vision Group: HC orders notice on MP's petition
BENGALURU: The Karnataka High Court on Friday ordered notice to the state government in connection with a public interest litigation (PIL) which sought quashing of the GO on the formation of Bangalore Blue Print Action Group (BBPAG) as illegal/unconstitutional.

The petition was filed by MP Rajeev Chandrasekhar and Namma Bengaluru Foundation challenging the formation of BBPAG and seeking a declaration that Bengaluru Metropolitan Planning Committee (BMPC) as the only Committee authorised for planning of Bengaluru.

Petitioners’ advocate Sajan Poovayya submitted that the BMPC was established in 2014 to advise on matters related to planning including infrastructure and other development initiatives.

When there is already this statutory body of BMPC existing, there was no need for BBPAG.

The petition further sought to issue declaration that the BMPC as the only committee authorised to consider, discuss, opine on matters related to planning of the metropolitan area of Bengaluru.

A division bench comprising Chief Justice S K Mukherjee and Justice Ravi Malimath ordered notice to the government to file objections in four weeks.
