Vision Group elitist, says online petition

BENGALURU: An online petition started in the city has termed the composition of the Bengaluru Vision Group “elitist,“ even as City Affairs Minister KJ George defended the inclusion of IT bigwigs in the group.

The Bengaluru Vision Group comprises Infosys cofounder N R Narayana Murthy, Wipro chairman Azim Premji, Biocon CMD Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw and Flipkart cofounder Sachin Bansal among others.

“The (group) has a wide representation from industry and bureaucracy but a significant omission is of the voices of the common citizens. It is exclusively elitist,“ reads the change.org petition floated by media professional Vijay Grover. The petition said “...members appointed have been successful in their business enterprises...will the common man be able to access them to share their concerns? Will not their business interests take precedence in decision making?“
