Vishaka Express bogie derails; traffic disrupted; none hurt

A coach of Vishakha Express today jumped off the rails at the Gopalapatnam junction here, disrupting rail traffic from the local railway station.

VISHAKHAPATNAM: A coach of Vishakha Express today jumped off the rails at the Gopalapatnam junction here, disrupting rail traffic from the local railway station. According to railway sources, the incident took place around 0700 hours when the last bogie of Vishaka Express coming from Secunderabad derailed following which train traffic from Vishakhapatnam railway station was thrown out of gear.

Some passengers who were in the coach immediately pulled the chain when they heard a big sound when the bogie derailed. However no one injured in the incident as the train was moving with very less speed.

Garibhirath Express, Kakinada, Vijayawada passengers and some other trains were stopped at outer signals for a few hours following the derailment.

Top railway officials including Divisional Railway Manager N Kasinath, Additional Divisional Railway Manager C Madhusudhana Rao have rushed to the spot and are supervising the track restoration work, sources said.
