"At this point in my life, I have decided to separate myself from the railway service and have submitted my resignation to the competent authorities of the Indian Railways. I will always be grateful to the Indian Railway family for this opportunity given to me by the Railways in the service of the nation," Phogat said in a post on X.
After her disqualification, Vinesh announced her retirement from wrestling on August 8. Since her return, there has been widespread speculation about her entry into active politics, following in the footsteps of her cousin, Babita Phogat, who is a BJP MLA.
Notably, the wrestler was also seen meeting the farmers, protesting at the Shambhu border and joining them.
Ahead of her likely political debut, it is also important to hold memory of the protest she led against BJP leader and WFI chief Brij Bhushan Singh Sharan, accusing him of sexual exploitation and intimidation in 2023. The protesters demanded his resignation and dissolution of the federation.
