Vinay Kumar appointed Himachal Congress chief, quits Dy Speaker post

Vinay Kumar was appointed as the state Congress president on Saturday. He then tendered his resignation as Himachal Pradesh Deputy Speaker.

Congress on Saturday appointed Vinay Kumar as the state party president, following which he resigned as Himachal Pradesh Deputy Speaker.

His resignation has been accepted by Assembly Speaker Kuldeep Pathania, PTI reported, citing sources.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), the party said, "Congress President Shri @kharge has appointed Shri Vinay Kumar as the President of the Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee. Congratulations on your new responsibility and best wishes for the future."



Kumar, the MLA from the Sri Renuka Ji seat in Sirmour district, replaces Pratibha Singh as president of the Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee.
