The villagers refused to go to the polling booth that was established, as it has been done in the past in the neighbouring village of Jagdishpur, saying it was too far.

MUZAFFARNAGAR: The residents of Deopura village in Shamli district have boycotted the panchayat election as polling booth was not established for them in their village.

The village was supposed to cast its vote yesterday in the first phase of the ongoing panchayat elections in the state.

Additional District Magistrate Bharat Pandit said the district authorities tried to persuade the villagers to take part in the voting but to no avail.
