MUMBAI: Former Maharashtra chief minister Vilasrao Deshmukh could be in trouble over the Adarsh controversy. Mumbai collector C Oak on Tuesday testified before the commission that a 2000 letter had revealed that Deshmukh had ordered the Adarsh building proposal be submitted immediately.

The collector admitted that the Adarsh land was in “unauthorized possession of the Army” . He also said that the letter written on behalf of the general officer commanding of Army Headquarters (Maharashtra, Gujarat and Goa), was the Army’s ‘no objection certificate’ for allotting the land to Adarsh. Major General S S Jog had earlier claimed that the then GOC A R Kumar had pressed him to write the letter.
