NEW DELHI: Union Minister Vijay Goel today celebrated Diwali with the Army soldiers at the Rajputana Rifles Regimental Centre in the Cantt area here.

Noting that the bravery of the soldiers is exemplary and the nation must unite as one to support them, Goel, the Union Sports Minister, lauded their efforts in safeguarding the country's frontiers and protecting the nation and its people from adversities.

He hailed the recent surgical strikes carried out by the Army on terror camps across the Line of Control (LoC), and said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, forces feel a renewed spirit and have a free hand to counter any threat that deters peace of the nation.

Goel was also joined by young volunteers from the Nehru Yuva Kendra in large numbers to cheer and greet the jawans with greeting cards, giving a boost to Modi's idea of #Sandesh2Soldiers.

At the Diwali Abhinandan Milan, soldiers along with Goel shared light moments, singing songs and exchanging pleasantries.

He also shared sweets and gifts with the soldiers of the Rajputana Regiment present in the function.
