Vigilance raids houses of top Bihar official

The Special Vigilance Wing of Bihar raided the residential premises of a top state official at Muzaffarpur and seized papers relating to his properties worth over Rs 1 crore.

PATNA: The Special Vigilance Wing (SVW) of Bihar on Sunday raided the residential premises of a top state official at Muzaffarpur here and seized papers relating to his properties worth over Rs one crore, a senior official said.

The vigilance sleuths, soon after registering a disproportionate asset case against Rajbhasha Director D N Choudhary charging him with accumulating wealth over Rs 55 lakh, raided his bungalow at Muzaffarpur where they seized registration deeds of four plots in the town, besides papers relating to his having a three acre land in Bochaha in Muzaffarpur district, Inspector General (SVW) A K Upadhyay said.

Choudhary's flat in posh Boring Road locality in Patna was also searched and it was discovered that his family have two bank lockers, the keys of which were being traced, he said.

Though no significant investment papers were found during the search, the value of his investment in real estate was stated to be running in over Rs one crore, Upadhyay said.

"A clear picture of Choudhary's assets will emerge during the investigation of the case," he said.
