Victory in Tripura proves acceptance of Left policies: Karat

The Left Front in Tripura retained power for the 5th consecutive time since 1993 with the coalition securing 3/4th majority by winning 50 of the 60 seats.

KOLKATA: Terming the victory of the party in Tripura as historic, CPI(M) General Secretary Prakash Karat today said the fifth straight win proved that the policies of the Left Front has found takers among the masses.

"The victory in Tripura is historic, because the Left Front has been elected for the fifth successive term. This shows that policies and performance of Left Front government in Tripura has found wide acceptance among the masses," Karat said on the sidelines of the 'Sangharsh Sandesh Jatha' flagging off ceremony here.

The Left Front in Tripura yesterday retained power for the fifth consecutive time since 1993 with the coalition securing three-fourths majority by winning 50 of the 60 Assembly seats.

The CPI(M) has embarked on a 'Sangharsh Sandesh Jatha,' which will traverse the length and breadth of the country to apprise the masses about the alleged anti-people policies of the UPA regime.
