Victim of alleged rape by a driver on Uber network withdraws case in United States court
The victim of an alleged rape by a driver on the network of taxi hailing app Uber in Delhi last December has reportedly withdrawn her case from a California District Court.

The case was admitted for hearing in a California District Court in the court room of Judge Laurel Beeler and was scheduled for a preliminary hearing on September 11, 2015. The case was filed in January 29, 2015 in the United States court by the victim through her lawyers Wigdor LLP, New York and Yuhl Carr LLP, California. ET was not able to ascertain whether a compensation and settlement was agreed to by both parties.
The law firm representing the victim did not respond to email queries from ET on the development. The California court is also hearing a number of other cases against taxi hailing apps Uber Inc, and Lyft. The case against the driver who allegedly raped the finance professional who was returning to her home in Delhi that fateful night is still being heard in Indian courts. The driver who hails from Mathura remains behind bars.
