Vice-Presidential election: Forward Bloc to support Hamid Ansari

KOLKATA: Left Front partner All India Forward Bloc today said it would support UPA's candidate Hamid Ansari in the ensuing Vice-Presidential election.

"All India Forward Bloc will support Shri Hamid Ansari in the ensuing vice-presidential election," AIFB General Secretary Debabrata Biswas said.

"The Left parties have unanimously supported Shri Ansari in the last election as he as a secular leader and known educationist. His candidature was a choice of the Left parties too in the last election," Biswas said in a release.

He said that Ansari's tenure as the Vice-President was non-controversial.

"AIFB appeals to the other Left and secular parties to extend their support to Hamid Ansari," he said.
