Vibrant Gujarat Summit 2013: Gujarat government inks MoUs with sports associations

The state sports ministry inked an MoU with Trans-stadia, a sports and entertainment company that specialises in designing new stadia.

GANDHINAGAR: The Gujarat government today inked MoUs with several sports associations for exchange of ideas regarding sports promotion during the Vibrant Gujarat Summit (VGS), a state government official said.

"Six Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) were inked for facilitating student exchange, faculty exchange and coaching programmes. This is for the first time that sports-related MoUs have been signed in the VGS," the official said.

The state sports ministry inked an MoU with Trans-stadia, a sports and entertainment company that specialises in designing new stadia.

The government official further said that coaches from foreign countries would impart training to the local counterparts with a view to help budding players.

"Sports complexes with complete facilities will be opened in 17 districts in the state," the official stated adding that the facility was already available in Ahmedabad, Jamnagar, Bhavnagar, Dahod and Rajkot districts.

Swimming Federation of India, Gujarat Olympic Association also signed MoUs to give an impetus to swimming and track and field events.

Special Olympics secretary D G Chaudhary, Australia- based Deikin University and School of Cricket, a division of School of Sports inked MoUs with Sports University, Gujarat.
