VHP asks people to support shutdown in Gujarat

The Vishwa Hindu Parishad in Gujarat reiterated its support for the nation-wide shutdown on July 3 declared by its central leadership on Amarnath Shrine Board land issue.

AHMEDABAD: VHP in the state also urged people to support the shutdown by keeping their businesses and offices closed. They have also requested the schools and colleges in the state to remain closed.
"We want the Central government to return the forest land to the Amarnath Shrine Board (ASB) at the earliest," VHP Gujarat president Dilip Trivedi told mediapersons.
"Muslims should respect the religious sentiments of Hindus in the country and ask the government to return the land to ASB," Trivedi said.
"If the Congress, known for appeasing minorty community, has withdrawn the allotment order of the land to gather votes in the valley then it is very unfortunate situation," Trivedi added.
Trivedi said that his only appeal to the people is to maintain peace during the shutdown.
"If the government is not able to give the land to ASB then it should also stop subsidy given to Muslims for Haj. For security of the Amarnath devotees and to protect the state of Jammu and Kashmir from Jehadi terrorists the government should immediately quash the special status given to the state under Article 370 and should impose military rule in the state," Trivedi said reading out VHP's demands.
"People should also boycott all goods made in Kashmir as a sign of protest," Trivedi added.
