NEW DELHI: The three-member selection committee, which met to review the government’s earlier decision to send CBI chief Alok Verma on leave remained inconclusive on Wednesday night after Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge demanded to know specific information on some key issues.

Kharge, is learnt to have sought the CVC report on Verma and insisted on the need to hear the CBI chief ’s response to the CVC report either in writing or in person.

He also sought to know circumstances and details of the government’s midnight decision to send Verma on leave, whether Verma was then dealing with petitions on important issues such as Rafale deal and his response to him being sent on leave.

Kharge also sought enough time to study the Supreme Court’s judgement on Tuesday reinstating Verma as CBI chief. Sources indicated the committee may meet again on Thursday.
