Venkaiah Naidu to inaugurate Smart City Expo in Barcelona

Union Urban Development Minister Venkaiah Naidu will leave for Barcelona in Spain tonight on a three-day visit during which he will inaugurate the Smart City Expo World Congress and hold talks with officials.

NEW DELHI: Union Urban Development Minister Venkaiah Naidu will leave for Barcelona in Spain tonight on a three-day visit during which he will inaugurate the Smart City Expo World Congress and hold talks with officials.

Naidu will inaugurate and address the 'Smart City Expo World Congress' on November 18, according to a release.

During his November 17-19 visit, the Union minister will hold talks with Mayor of Barcelona Xavier Trias and senior officials. He will also hold discussions with senior officials of Japanese cities of Kyoto, Yokohama and Fukuoka.

Besides, Naidu will talk to senior officials of the World Bank and leading companies associated with building smart cities regarding the initiative of the central government to develop 100 smart cities in the country.

Several countries like Japan, Germany, Sweden, Singapore, Israel, the UK, the USA, Hong Kong, the Netherlands besides multinational corporations have shown keen interest in partnering in building smart cities in India.
