Vedanta employees seek Naveen's help for bauxite supply

Employees of Vedanta Alumina Refinery of Kalahandi district in Odisha today sought Naveen Patnaik's intervention for ensuring bauxite supply to prevent the plant from being closed.

BHUBANESWAR: Workers and employees of Vedanta Alumina Refinery of Kalahandi district in Odisha today sought Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik's intervention for ensuring bauxite supply to prevent the plant from being closed.

A delegation of the employees of Lanjigarh-based refinery met the chief minister here and sought steps to save the alumina plant in view of the crisis faced due to acute shortage of bauxite ore.

So far Vedanta has not been provided with bauxite ore in Odisha for various reasons including lack of environmental clearance, sources said.

Vedanta Aluiminium Limited (VAL) has set up the 1 MTPA capacity alumina refinery at Lanjigarh in Kalahandi district.

The memorandum to the chief minister sought his intervention so that the present situation caused by bauxite scarcity could be averted.
