NEW DELHI: Vectra Group Chief Ravinder Rishi, facing a CBI probe for the alleged irregularities in supply of all-terrain Tatra trucks, has been restrained from travelling to the Republic of Czech and Slovakia by a special court.

Special CBI Judge Ravinder Kaur, however, permitted Rishi to travel to London and Georgia via Moscow for four weeks from August 13 for medical treatment and business purposes after CBI said it has no objection on his plea to travel abroad.

The CBI, however, told the court that Rishi be restrained from travelling to the Republic of Czech as letter of rogatory has been sent to the country in connection with the case while it "intends" to sent letter of rogatory to Slovakia as well.

"Since the prosecution (CBI) has no objection to the same and also for the reason that accused (Rishi) travelled abroad in terms of the order of the High Court of Delhi and orders of this court and never misused the liberty granted to him, he is allowed to travel only to London and Georgia via Moscow....," the court said.

"He (Rishi) is specifically restrained from travelling to Republic of Czech and Slovakia," the judge said.

The order came on a plea filed by Rishi seeking permission to travel to London for treatment of his acute liver problem. He said that as per the medical advice, the doctors need to review his condition from time to time.

Rishi told the court that earlier also he had travelled abroad on the orders of Delhi High court as well as the trial court and had returned back which proves his bonafide conduct.

He said that he is required to travel abroad for medical treatment as well as business exigencies.

57-year-old Rishi, a British national, is facing a CBI probe over alleged irregularities in supply of Tatra trucks to public sector Bharat Earth Movers Limited (BEML) by his firm Tatra-Sipox UK.
