A Varanasi blast suspect was on Saturday reportedly detained at the Mumbai airport.

NEW DELHI: A Varanasi blast suspect was on Saturday reportedly detained at the Mumbai airport.

The suspect was detained while he was trying to board a Gulf-bound flight, TV channels reported. He has been taken to Sahar police station.

The suspect was detained after a tip-off from a local informer.

Two people, including a girl child, were killed and several injured in the Varanasi blast on Dec 7. A low-intensity blast was triggered at Dashashwamedh Ghat during the Ganga aarti on the evening of Dec 7.

The banned terror outfit Indian Mujahideen had claimed the responsibility for the Varanasi blast.
