India is set to introduce its first Vande Bharat Sleeper train on the Guwahati–Howrah (Kolkata) route, marking a major boost for long distance rail connectivity in the Northeast. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to flag off the service within the next 15–20 days, likely around January 17–18.The overnight, fully air conditioned train aims to offer faster travel and enhanced passenger comfort. As per proposed fares, the 3AC ticket is expected to cost around Rs 2,300 including food, while 2AC fare will be approximately Rs 3,000 and First AC around Rs 3,600, making it a competitive option compared to other modes of travel on the busy corridor.
