Vajpayee created Uttarakhand, Modi building it, says Amit Shah

Union home minister Amit Shah Saturday kicked off BJP's election campaign in Uttarakhand by highlighting the works done by the central and state governments in the last five years, including Rs 85,000-crore infrastructure projects.

Seeking another term for his party in the state, Shah reminded people that Uttarakhand was created by former BJP prime minister, the late Atal Bihari Vajpayee, and it is being built by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

He demanded the opposition Congress should present its report card for the ten years that it was in power. "Congress was in power at the Centre for 10 years under the leadership of Manmohan Singh. What did it do for Uttarakhand during the period? It should tell the people of the state," Shah told the gathering at a function in Dehradun.


He launched the state government's Mukhyamantri Ghasyari Kalyan Yojana (MGKY), a scheme for providing livestock feed that aims to benefit women in the hill parts of the state.

Shah also appreciated the state government for completing computerisation works of all the 671 Multipurpose Primary Agriculture Cooperative Societies (MPACS) in the state.

He highlighted the ongoing reconstruction works of the Kedarnath temple, and said Modi will unveil a statue of Adi Guru Shankaracharya in Kedarnath during his visit to the temple on November 5.

Shah claimed the Congress can't do anything for the state and alleged that the opposition party is visible only at the time of elections holding dharnas, demonstrations and press conferences. He also accused Congress of adopting appeasement policy.
