Vajpayee admitted to AIIMS, condition stable

Former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee was on Tuesday admitted to the AIIMS after he complained of giddiness and his condition has been described as stable.

NEW DELHI: Former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee was on Tuesday admitted to the AIIMS after he complained of giddiness and his condition has been described as stable.

"He is stable, conscious, with normal vital signs," Dr Shakti Gupta, a spokesperson of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) told media.

Vajpayee, 83, was admitted to a private ward in the Cardio-Thoracic and Neuro-Sciences Centre after he complained of drowsiness and giddiness in the morning.

"He is under observation. We are carrying out various investigations," he said, adding that some more tests will be carried out on Wednesday.

"A team of doctors, including cardiologists and neurologists, are looking after him," he said.
