CHENNAI: BJP ally MDMK today welcomed the Centre's move to constitute a Special Investigation Team to unearth black money.

The Vaiko-led party held its meeting of district secretaries and parliamentary board, among others, here, where a series of resolutions were passed.

One of the resolutions lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi for keeping up his poll-time promise in this regard.

"This meeting lauds Prime Minister Modi for constituting the SIT in very first cabinet meeting," the party said in a release.

With its party chief Vaiko actively participating in the inter-state Mullaperiyar issue involving Kerala, MDMK urged Modi to declare as 'national rivers' those running through different states and also sought inter-linking of peninsular rivers.
