Vadodara Municipal Corporation launches e-waste collection drive
The Vadodara Municipal Corporation has launched an e-waste collection drive after an MoU was signed between VMC and ECS Environment Pvt Ltd.

This follows the signing of an MoU between VMC and ECS Environment Pvt Ltd, an Ahmedabad-based firm, under which the company will collect e-waste from the people, VMC's standing committee chairman Hitendra Prabhudas Patel told PTI today.
The vendor company will reward people with cash for trading their old electronic gadgets, including televisions, washing machines, mobile phones, monitors, gaming consoles and other e-wastes, for proper recycling, Patel said.
The vendor will also give 12 per cent of the total collection to the civic body, he said. The disposal of waste will be certified by Gujarat Pollution Control Board and the quantum of waste disposed will be monitored through audits to which the VMC will have an access, the civic body's IT director Manish Kumar Bhatt said.
People can call the VMC's helpline number for giving away their e-waste to the civic body, he added. The VMC's e-waste collection drive is a part of the Mahatma Gandhi Swacchata (cleanliness) Mission and e-Nagar project launched by Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi in Gandhinagar yesterday.
