In a letter sent to the Speaker of UP Legislative Assembly Mata Prasad Pandey, the Secretary General of the organisation, William F Shija prayed for the peace of the departed souls.

LUCKNOW: Terming the floods in Uttarakhand as "most unfortunate and agonising", the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association has expressed its grief over the loss of lives and damage to properties in the calamity.

In a letter sent to the Speaker of UP Legislative Assembly Mata Prasad Pandey, the Secretary General of the organisation, William F Shija prayed for the peace of the departed souls.

Shija and other office bearers of the CPA said "in this most unfortunate and agonising incident faced by various families of the state, CPA wish them comfort and recovery from the effects of this tragic event."

The CPA comprises of about 54 countries and about 175 Legislatures of these countries are Members of this Association.

Indian Parliament and the Legislature of Uttar Pradesh are also Members of this Association.
