Uttarakhand CM Harish Rawat's one year in office disappointing: BJP

DEHRADUN: Terming Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat's one year in office as disappointing, main opposition BJP today staged dharnas across the state alleging that the state government had failed to deliver under his leadership.

Holding the dharna before the District Magistrate's office here, BJP mahanagar president Neelam Sehgal alleged that despite a year in office, the chief minister had failed to deliver on his announcements.

"All we heard last year were announcements and more announcements by the chief minister. However, the ground realities remain unchanged," she alleged.

At the end of the dharna Sehgal submitted a memorandum to Governor K K Paul in which she spoke in detail about the disappointments of Rawat's one year in office including bad condition of roads on char dham yatra route and the continuing plight of disaster affected people in the hill districts.

Similar dharnas were held at all district headquarters across the state, BJP state office secretary Urbadutt Bhatt said.

However, Congress termed BJP's statewide dharna programme as nothing more than drama.

"It is pure nautanki. In fact it reflects BJP's frustration at the chief minister's ever growing popularity because of the strides the state has taken despite all odds in terms of development under him in the last one year," Rawat's media in charge Surendra Kumar said.
