Uttarakhand CM asks Tata to open driving school for women in state

DEHRADUN: Chief Minister Harish Rawat has asked automobile giant Tata Motors to open a driving school for women in Uttarakhand, and conduct training courses for it at state-based Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs).

Rawat held a meeting with Tata Motors National Head Government Affairs Sushant Nayak and the company's state Head Ashutosh Burman here yesterday.

The CM urged the company to run skill development programmes related to tourism and hospitality sector apart from giving them driving classes at ITIs, an official release here said.

He said the state government has plans to connect at least 25 per cent of the ITIs in the state with livelihood.

Crash course for commercial skills in local products will soon be launched at the ITI in Kaliyar Sharief in Haridwar district, the Chief Minister said.

Accepting Rawat's request, Nayak said Tata Motors will open a driving school for women in Uttarakhand and will also conduct training course in driving at state-based ITIs.

He said Tata Motors will offer all the cooperation expected from it in the development of the state. PTI ALM
