Uttar Pradesh to soon announce mega campaign to create 50 lakh jobs

Lucknow: UP government will soon be embarking on a widespread jobs campaign or "Mission Rozgaar" aimed at employing 50 lakh youth across the state in government departments, private jobs and by aiding self employment, the government said on Wednesday.

The state will kickstart the campaign soon after Diwali and it is scheduled to run till March next year, according to a communique shared by the government. The government is looking to set up employment help desks in every government department and an app and a web portal is being developed that will update data related to jobs and vacancies every fortnightly.

"Under Mission Rozgaar, a programme will be organised to create more employment and self-employment opportunities in various departments, organisations, voluntary organisations, corporations, councils, boards and various local bodies of the state government," UP chief secretary RK Tiwari said. Tiwari will be heading a high level committee to monitor the campaign monthly. At the district level, the district magistrate will chair a committee for preparing the action plan.


Announcement of the mission comes two months after the CM Yogi Adityanath had called for officials to fill up all vacancies in government departments in a span of six months. The CM had however not mentioned how many jobs the state was targetting to provide. It has already provided about 3 lakh jobs in government departments over the span of more than three years- a plank Adityanath also used while campaigning for the bypolls that the BJP won six out of seven seats in.
