Uttar Pradesh: Teen domestic help found hanging at SP MLA Zahid Beg's residence

In a tragic development, a young domestic help was found hanging at the terrace of Samajwadi Party MLA Zahid Beg's residence in Uttar Pradesh's Bhadohi district.

The girl was working for the past many years at Beg's house and her family used to reside in Kanshiram Housing in Mamdev area, circle officer Ajay Kumar Chauhan said.

The girl, who used to live in a room on the upper portion of the MLA's house in Malikana locality, was found hanging from a fan, the officer added.


As per Chauhan, the girl did not wake up for a long time, after which MLA's family looked inside and found the door locked from inside and girl's body hanging from the ceiling fan from her dupatta.

He said on receiving the information, the police reached the spot, broke the door, took out the body and sent it for post-mortem.

The forensic team is also working to investigate every aspect of the case. The post-mortem of the body will be done by a panel of two doctors and its videography will also be done, he said.

On Monday, superintendent of police (SP) Meenakshi Katyayan confirmed the incident, stating, "Police and FSL (Forensic Science Laboratory) teams reached the spot as soon as the information was received. The body has been taken into custody, and post-mortem proceedings are underway."

"An investigation is being conducted from all possible angles to determine the cause of the suicide. Why the hanged herself is a matter of investigation," SP Katyayan added.
